Midrange surf, almost no bass
There is barely any low end here, a large middle, and enough top for the hiss of foam. Whatever position the microphone was in, it was not catching the pressure of large waves. You hear the level swell and fall with each set, so the rhythm of the sea is there, but nothing arrives sharply enough to count as a crash.
That matters for masking. A file with almost nothing underneath will not cover traffic or machinery. It covers conversation well, because that is where its energy is, so choose it for company rather than for blocking the street.
