Does Brown Noise Help ADHD? What to Know

Why it seems to help some people
One idea is that a brain that’s naturally a bit less alert gets a small useful nudge from steady background sound, while a brain that’s already alert just finds it distracting. A simple way to stay under that without measuring anything: keep your device around 60% of its top volume, and treat “loud enough to notice” as the ceiling, not the target.
Talk to a doctor if it’s affecting school or work
None of this replaces medical care. If attention problems are making school or work harder, that’s worth raising with a doctor. Behavioral strategies and medication, when a doctor decides it’s appropriate, have far more evidence behind them than a sound file.
